Day 1: Arrival in Kigali & City Tour
Welcome to Rwanda.
- Arrival: Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide and transferred to your hotel.
- City Tour: After check-in, enjoy a guided tour of the city. This includes a moving visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a tribute to Rwanda’s past and its journey of healing.
- Optional: Depending on your arrival time, you can also visit local craft markets or museums.
- Overnight: Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel in Kigali.
Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park
Journey to the Savannah.
- The Drive: After breakfast, depart for Akagera National Park. It is a scenic drive of about 2.5–3 hours.
- Arrival: Check into your lodge and enjoy lunch with views of the savannah.
- Afternoon Game Drive: Embark on a guided game drive. Akagera is Rwanda’s only Big Five park, home to elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and rhinos.
- Overnight: Dinner and overnight stay at a lodge in Akagera.
Day 3: Full-Day Safari in Akagera
Big Game Viewing.
- Explore: Spend the day exploring the diverse habitats of the park, including open plains, woodlands, wetlands, and lakes.
- Wildlife: This is your best chance to spot lions, leopards, buffalo, antelopes, and over 500 bird species.
- Lunch: Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park or return to the lodge for a relaxed break.
- Overnight: Dinner and overnight stay at a lodge in Akagera.
Day 4: Drive to Volcanoes National Park (via Kigali)
From Plains to Mountains.
- Travel: After a leisurely breakfast, drive back through Kigali en route to the Northern Province.
- Lunch: Stop for lunch in Kigali.
- Scenic Drive: Continue your journey through the beautiful terraced hills to Musanze.
- Arrival: Arrive at your lodge near Volcanoes National Park, ready for tomorrow’s adventure.
- Overnight: Dinner and overnight stay at a lodge near Volcanoes National Park.
Day 5: Gorilla Trekking Experience
A Once-in-a-Lifetime Encounter.
- Briefing: After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing.
- The Trek: Begin your expedition through the lush rainforest to search for one of the habituated gorilla families.
- The Encounter: Spend one hour with these gentle giants in their natural habitat. It is a deeply emotional and unforgettable experience.
- Overnight: Dinner and overnight stay at a lodge near Volcanoes National Park.
Day 6: Lake Kivu Visit
Relax & Enjoy Scenic Views.
- Transfer: This morning, transfer to Lake Kivu, one of Africa’s Great Lakes.
- Relaxation: Spend the day relaxing by the lake.
- Activities: Choose from optional activities such as a boat ride, kayaking, or simply soaking in the views of the surrounding mountains.
- Overnight: Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel at Lake Kivu (Gisenyi).
Day 7: Return to Kigali & Departure
Farewell to Rwanda.
- The Drive: After breakfast, enjoy a scenic drive back to Kigali (approx. 3.5 hours).
- Shopping: Time permitting, visit local art galleries, coffee shops, or souvenir markets for last-minute shopping.
- Drop Off: Transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
