Day 1: Nairobi – Sirimon Gate

• Morning departure north of Nairobi through the central highlands

• Picnic lunch en route to the park gate

• Drive to Sirimon Gate and onward to the roadhead at 11,000 ft

• Easy afternoon walk for acclimatization

• Overnight at Judmaier Camp (11,000 ft.) in high-altitude mountain tents

Day 2: Sirimon – Liki Valley

• Ascend the Sirimon Track to Liki North Valley

• Camp overnight in Liki Valley (13,000 ft.), below the subsidiary peaks of Tereri and Sendeyo

Day 3: Liki Valley – Mackinder Valley

• Climb from Liki Valley into Mackinder Valley, one of the broadest valleys on the mountain

• Observe giant groundsels along the way

• Overnight at Shipton Camp at Mackinder Valley head, just below Batian and Nelion (14,000 ft.)

Day 4: Mackinder Valley – Teleki Valley

• Alpine ascent of Pt. Lenana (16,355 ft.) via the north face

• Approximately four hours of stiff walking to the summit

• Descend to Teleki Valley on the opposite side of the main peaks

• Overnight at MacKinder’s Camp (13,900 ft.)

Day 5: Mackinder Valley – Nairobi

• Descend to the Meteorological Station on the Naro Moru Track

• Proceed down the mountain to the park gate

• Transfer back to Nairobi after a lunch stop
