Arrival Day

• Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or similar

• Transfer to Springlands Hotel or similar in Moshi or Arusha

• Overnight on bed and breakfast basis

Day 1: Meriakamba Hut (Full Board)

• Drive from Arusha to Momela Gate

• Registration at the park gate

• Begin hike with armed ranger escort

• Possible wildlife sightings including elephants, zebras, giraffes, monkeys, and antelope

• Dinner and overnight at Miriakamba Hut

• 1,387 m to 1,500 m

• 10 km

Hiking Time:

• 4–6 hours

Habitat:

• Montane Forest

Day 2: Saddle Hut (Full Board)

• Trek from Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut

• Steep ascent with views of Meru Crater and Ash Cone

• Hot lunch at Saddle Hut

• Optional climb to Little Meru (3,820 m) before sunset

• Dinner and overnight at Saddle Hut

• 2,514 m to 3,570 m

Distance:

• 8 km

Hiking Time:

• 3–5 hours

Habitat:

• Forest and Moorland

Day 3: Summit Day (Half Board)

• Early start at approximately 1:30 a.m.

• Climb to Rhino Point and Cobra Point

• Reach the summit at 4,566 m for sunrise

• Possible views of Mount Kilimanjaro

• Descend to Saddle Hut for rest and brunch

• Continue descent to Momella Gate

• Transfer back to hotel in Arusha or Moshi

Elevation:

• 3,570 m to 4,565 m, then down to 2,514 m

Distance:

• 5 km ascent / 13 km descent

Hiking Time:

• 12–14 hours

Habitat:

• Alpine Desert, Moorland, and Montane Forest
